Consideration of Wahoo for Federal Management

In November, the Gulf Council saw this presentation on Wahoo. There is three entities here that could move on this consideration. The Gulf States, the Gulf Council, and the National Marine Sanctuary. In some of the Sanctuaries there has been a heavy harvest in the western Gulf. Upon discussion the Gulf States committed to evaluating state management of Wahoo. When there is no federal management of a species the state can do the management out into the EEZ. Currently the only state with Wahoo regulations is Florida at 2 per person. Work will continue at the January 2025 Gulf Council meeting.
