Gulf Council Letter to HMS Regarding Proposed Rule
The Gulf Council, the South Atlantic Council, and HMS seem to all be at odds here at the moment. The Gulf Council made it known to HMS when this first came about informing them they are currently working on revamping SEFHIER in the South Atlantic so it has more required participation and can be used for stock assessments and catch advice, and the Gulf is working on standing the program back up. It is not clear how this will go as the Gulf Council was astonished that HMS had a proposed rule already in the Federal Register. We will keep you informed as the discussion moves forward.
