The management of our nation's fisheries is governed under the Magnuson-Stevens Act (MSA). It is here where the protected but arduous process is laid out. The requirements to allow multiple points of stakeholder engagement, the laws the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) are required to follow, as well as the ten national standards that must be met when implementing the Fishery Management Plans (FMP) that steward our nation's resources.
