Capt. Jim Green is the operator of the "American Spirit" out of Destin, FL. He has been a professional fisherman for over 30 years. Not only has he taken the helm of the CFA but he is also the President of the Destin Charter Boasts Association (DCBA). Through the years has sat on various Gulf Council advisory panels and currently is the Chairman of the For-hire Data Collection Advisory Panel. His involvement in fisheries management and his leadership has been very influential in both the federal and state management processes over the past 2 decades. Capt. Green is very involved in his community serving as Chairman of the Destin Harbor and Waterways Board, a member of the Destin Harbor Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Advisory Committee. And was a past member of the Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee (MAFAC) where he was appointed by Secretary of Commerce. We are proud to have him as the voice for CFA.
Captain Dylan Hubbard is the Vice President of Hubbard's Marina operating out of the famous Johns Pass, FL. He is also President of the Florida Guides Association (FGA). He is a well spoken and knowledgeable advocate for his fleet and the anglers along Florida's West Coast. His communication skills and passion for sustainable fishery management make him a great addition to our organization. He is a fourth generation born and raised Florida native and is an avid fisherman, outdoor enthusiast and is active in preserving and sustaining our fishery.
Captain Jarvis was one of the founding members of CFA and its first President. He is also a past President of the Destin Charter Boat Association. With a lifetime of experience as a For-hire and Commercial fisherman he has applied that knowledge to the arena of fishery politics. He introduced sector separation to the Gulf council in 2008 and was a leader in the push for Amendment 40 (Sector Separation) come to fruition in 2014.
He has sold his boat and business after 41 years as a dual permitted For-hire and Commercial fisherman. He is in business with his sons who own and operate 5 seafood restaurants in the greater Destin Florida area. In March of 2018 Capt. Gary was elected Mayor of Destin, Florida, "The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village" and this has put him in a unique position to be able to open new doors in the political arena to work for all user groups in finding sustainable ways to fish and share the Gulf of America's abundant fishery resources. Capt. Jarvis is a avid deer hunter and still plays Ice Hockey around the country in age group tournaments from a childhood love for the game.
Capt. Hickman is the Owner/Operator of Circle H Outfitters and Charters. He is a full time hunting and fishing guide out of Galveston, Texas for over 30 years now specializing in Cobia, Red Snapper, Amberjack, and King Mackerel trips. Scott is married to wife Shannon and has two daughters Allison and Lauren. He is currently a member of the Gulf Council's Migratory Pelagic and the Reef Fish Advisory Panels. His top priority is working on a better path forward for the Gulf's for-hire fleet and bettering their business models. Capt Hickman also holds the Recreational seat on the Flower Gardens Banks National Marine Sanctuary Council. He attended both Texas Tech University and Sam Houston State University studying Wildlife Management and Criminal Justice. Capt.Hickman also honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and Texas National Guard.
Captain Billy Archer was born in 1956. Set out to sea in 1969 with his grandfather "Capt Tiny". Born and raised in Bay County Florida. Capt Billy has been actively involved in helping the fishing industry have a better tomorrow for over 3 decades. One of the founding members of S.O.S in 2008 Save Our Sector. He has served as an Officer and Board Member since the inception of CFA officially founded in 2011.
Capt. Woodruff is the Owner/Operator of “Class Act Orange Beach Charter Fishing” running out of Orange Beach, Alabama. He has two vessels, the F/V “Class Act” and the F/V” Daddy’s Baby”. Capt. Woodruff is currently the President of the Alabama Charter Fishing Association. As a father of seven children, Capt. Woodruff has a vision of our industry being passed on to the next generation. He is dedicated to the Gulf’s for-hire fleet and works diligently to ensure the sustainably of our industry.
Capt. Ard is the Owner/Operator of "Fairwater II Charters" out of Orange Beach, Alabama. With over 40 years of for-hire experience, and building his operation up to five vessels, he understands the challenges that face our industry. Capt. Ard runs his business like a family and cares deeply about the direction our industry goes in as it affects not just his family but all of his crews. He supports sustainable and accountable fisheries management and we are grateful to have him on the Board of Directors at CFA.
Spray Ya Later Charters is own and operated by Captain Seymour and his son. Capt. Seymour brings over 30 years of experience fishing the waters in and around Biloxi, Mississippi. Fishing is his passion, and he enjoys sharing his local knowledge with his guest.
Capt. Seymour is on the CFA Board of Directors to represent the Mississippi For-hire Fleet. He's also the Chairman of the Mississippi Charter For-hire Task Force. And has been worked on improving fishery management at the state, local and national levels.
Capt. Gaspard is the Owner/Operator of "Pure Adrenalin Fishing Charters" out of Grand Isle, Louisiana. With over 20 years of for-hire experience and the expertise to build his own custom 41' Catamaran center console he has cemented himself in our industry. Capt. Gaspard loves to be on the water fishing, but also knows the proper management of our resources are essential to a long career in this industry. We are proud to have him on the Board of Directors of CFA.
A freshwater and saltwater fisherman in Louisiana and Mississippi since childhood, and an avid scuba diver since his days at LSU, Steve has more than 35 years of experience in Gulf of Mexico fisheries. He started out building and operating a six passenger dive charter boat out of Port Fourchon, LA. Subsequently, Steve bought a 65-foot bare hull, towed it from Montgomery, AL to Baton Rouge, LA, and within a year, launched the F/V Southerner. A few years later, he added the F/V Louisiana, F/V Gulf of Mexico, and the F/V Caribbean Sea, all 65-footers built on the same style hull for mixing charter and commercial fishing. Steve is a long time CFA Board Member and has worked to advance new ideas in the charter-for-hire industry.
